The Mute Audio GrubDAC

Now shipping PRODUCTION version!!

This is it! The production version of the GrubDAC Printed Circuit Board. Mute Audio has designed a new DAC with the same size layout as the BantamDAC. It is interchangeable with all of the same uses as the Bantam, but it's also been specifically designed to fit the Hammond 1551HTBU case! When built, this device (DAC) will perform the same function as an off-board stereo sound card from a Windows, OSX, or Linux platform (but quieter and with more high-fidelity than many typical on-board sound cards). Installation is plug and play on all major devices using Windows, OSX, or Linux and using USB-connections. No additional software or programming is required. Full details and building construction may be found on the GrubDAC website .

NOTE: Please ensure that you use the Bill Of Materials for the production version only - GrubDAC BOM. The entire GrubDAC can be built for $25-$30!

NO OUTPUT COUPLING CAPACITORS!! Despite its small size, the GrubDAC is a complete, USB-powered version of a DAC circuit, complete with a fully-regulated 3.3V digital power supply. The single most important, distinguishing feature of the GrubDAC is the Wolfson WM8524 DAC chip. It uses a internal charge pump that allows direct DC output coupling with no output coupling capacitors! Sound output is pure and is unfiltered from the output of the DAC chip. No other DAC of a comparable size, and many that are larger - offers an output without coupling capacitors. This is truly a special capabiltity, indeed.

Like the Bantam before it, the GrubDAC's small size allows an option to build as a GrubCableDAC. Watch for details on the GrubDAC website! Also, watch for news on GrubDAC kits and a few special, but optional parts - soon to be carried on Beezar!!

Board Dimensions: 2.0" wide x 1.04" (50.8mm wide x 26.4mm),
